Mission
Sociology begins with rethinking about people's common knowledge about social phenomena. While studying classical and contemporary sociological theories and research methods, students find out how to think critically and scientifically. Studying quantitative and qualitative research methods especially enables students to conduct empirical research on social reality and analyse the results. Furthermore sociology deals with many fields such as culture, everyday life, industry, urban environment, gender, family, globalization, civil society. Sociology provides comprehensive understanding of contemporary social issues and also develops problem-solving ability for those issues. In addition, undergraduate courses encourage students to make a presentation and engage in discussion in class. The courses also offer opportunities for group activities contributing to developing leadership, planning skills and communication skills.
